Garage sale to benefit Sumrall High School

A local real estate agent who has three children in the Lamar County School District’s Sumrall schools wants to help local teachers with their technology needs. So, with the help of the community, Alex Ralston hopes to raise funds with a garage sale.

Ralston said she got the inspiration from Sumrall High School biology teacher Jamie Sorrell.

“I was asking her if there was anything academically needed at the school,” Ralston said. “She said they were in desperate need of Chromebooks and Promethean Boards.

Chromebooks are used in state testing, and Promethean Boards are interactive whiteboards that allow you to project an image from a laptop or a computer.

The garage sale will be held Sept. 21-22 at the old high school gym at 124 Center Ave. in Sumrall. Donations must be dropped off at the gym no later than 6 p.m. Sept. 18. Unsold items will be donated to the Salvation Army.”

Items such as household/ kitchen materials, clothing, furniture and anything else that might be available at a garage sale will be accepted. Monetary donations can also be made.

“I will be at the old gym accepting donations for the sale on Sept. 15, 16 and 18 from 4-6 p.m.,” she said. “We hope to have a great turnout of shoppers and donations.”
