Two Forrest County School District campuses will see new faces in the principal’s office.
Tito Lanier and Carrie Hornsby have been chosen by the district to lead Earl Travillion Attendance Center and Dixie Attendance Center, respectively, when the school year begins in August.
Both were introduced at the school board’s meeting June 8.
Lanier comes to Earl Travillion with nearly 25 years of experience as an educator, from classroom teacher to principal and.
Most recently, he was head of Student Support Services with the Laurel School District.
“I’m really happy to be part of the district team, and grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received at Earl Travillion,” Lanier said.
Hornsby also has 20-plus years of experience in education.
She most recently served as director of Federal Programs and Early Childhood Intervention Services with the Hattiesburg Public School District.
She has served as a classroom teacher and school principal, including most recently at Hattiesburg’s Thames Elementary.
“I’ve missed working directly with kids, and am looking forward to the new school year,” Hornsby said.
Lanier and Hornsby worked together in the Hattiesburg school district during their careers.
“We’re very fortunate to have two individuals with such depth in experience join our administrative team,” said Superintendent Brian Freeman.
