Camp Shelby to host Memorial Day ceremony

The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum will host its inaugural Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, at the Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center.

The event will honor those service members who have been lost in armed conflict while preserving the freedom of our great country.

Maj. Gen. Janson D. Boyles, the adjutant general of Mississippi, and Wayne Johnston, son of a World War II pilot, will lay a wreath at the Gold Star Monument, a memorial which pays tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and the family members they left behind.

Tommy Lofton, Mississippi Armed Forces Museum director, as well as Boyles and Johnston, will be the guest speakers for the Memorial Day event.
