The City of Hattiesburg’s City Lights + Music Nights Concert Series is teaming up with FestivalSouth for a bonus show to the FestivalSouth lineup.
Grammy-winning blues legend Bobby Rush and Friends will be at the Hattiesburg Saenger at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29. Tickets range from $15 - $25.
Rush, a B.B. King Entertainer of the Year and member of the Blues Hall of Fame, won a long-overdue 2017 Grammy for his spectacular album Porcupine Meat and consistently tours the globe as a headliner.
What’s more, Rush’s brand-new album Sitting on Top of the Blues on his own Deep Rush imprint – distributed by Thirty Tigers – promises to further spread the news that this revered legend, well past 80 years of age even if his stratospheric energy level belies the calendar, is bigger and bolder than ever.
With great partnerships between FestivalSouth and Ardenland, this show is also supported and made possible through Forrest Health, The First Bank – A National Banking Association, WQID, The PineBelt News, Stokes Distributing, T-Bone’s Records and WUSM.
Tickets can be purchased by visiting http://bit.ly/CLMNBobbyRush or at hattiesburgsaenger.com.
BOBBY RUSH
Rush is a Louisiana native who lived for decades in Chicago and earned the title “king of the chitlin circuit” after relocating to Jackson in the early 1980s. Rush's distinctive “folk funk” style, featured on his recordings for the Jackson-based LaJam label and others, bridged the blues he heard as a youth and modern soul music. His upbeat and often provocative live shows established him as a favorite among southern soul and blues audiences.
