Arrests have been made in two unrelated Hattiesburg homicides that have officially made 2018 the deadliest in the history of the Hub City.
Since the beginning of this year, 14 people have been murdered in Hattiesburg. Arrests have been made in each one of the cases.
Last Wednesday, Johnny Mckay, 55, of Hattiesburg, was arrested and charged in connection to a fatal stabbing in the 200-block of North 40th Avenue.
The victim and suspect knew one another, according to police officials. As the investigation progressed, it was learned that the suspect was allowing the victim stay at his apartment, and then when he was asked to leave, an altercation occurred.
On Tuesday, Hattiesburg Police charged three individuals in an ongoing death investigation in connection to a body found in a residence in the 200-block of Oak Street.
Details are limited, but 21-year-old Tykevious Durr and 31-year-old Andre Snell have both been arrested and charged with capital murder and aggravated assault.
Durr’s mother (and Snell’s girlfriend), 41-year-old Konswaylo Durr, was charged with hindering prosecution.
The investigation is still ongoing, and other arrests are pending.
