Argument leads to shooting; two injured, one charged

By STAFF REPORTS,

Hattiesburg Police officers discovered a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound when they answered a call after 10 p.m. last Friday at 104 Carey Court Apartments.

The man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injury. Speaking with him and other witnesses, officers learned the shooting suspect was Joseph Dennis.

Dennis, 21, of Hattiesburg, fled the scene and was apprehended on Tuscan Avenue by officers minutes after the shooting. Dennis also received a gunshot wound, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was treated and released, and then taken into custody and questioned in the shooting.

He was charged Saturday morning, with one count of aggravated assault and booked into the Forrest County Jail.
