Ronald Doleac will step down from the bench after seven years as 10th Chancery Court District Place 4 judge after deciding not to seek re-election for another four-year term.
Senior Chancellor Johnny L. Williams has also decided to retire from the 10th Chancery Court District, leaving two vacancies.
Doleac has plans to return to the law as a Senior Status judge with assignment from the State Supreme Court. Also, he wants to take the time for family and friends.
“It has been my privilege to serve as Chancellor since January 2012 in my efforts to uphold that duty and to hear, consider and rule upon issues in cases brought before the court,” he said. “The judge rules in any given case based upon the facts presented and the law applicable to those facts in order to craft an effective solution to the disputes and problems presented by the parties.”
On Dec. 31, 2018, Doleac will conclude his seventh year of service as chancellor for the citizens of Forrest, Lamar, Marion, Pearl River and Perry counties of the 10th Chancery Court District.
Doleac said he has enjoyed his time on the bench with other judges and with his staff personnel.
“My good fortune during these seven years on the bench has been to serve with Chancellor Johnny L. Williams, Chancellor Deborah J. Gambrell, former Chancellor and now Supreme Court Justice Dawn H. Beam and Chancellor Rhea H. Sheldon,” he said. “I have been blessed with the best co-workers any judge could hope for: Gloria Moorer, Court Administrator; Lisa Ladner, Court Reporter, Jennifer Rogers, Staff Attorney, and Barbie Parham, Parenting Class coordinator.”
Doleac said he will remain involved in the law on a part-time basis.
“I plan to stay involved with the Judicial Branch by offering for Senior Status work hearing cases on a part-time basis per assignment from Chief Justice William Waller Jr. of our Mississippi Supreme Court,” he said. “Case Mediation work may also be a consideration.”
Doleac said each Chancery Court case that came before him was important, and he several stand out to him.
“Those happy events would all involve children and families and adoption and celebration and the good opportunities facilitated through the court for those children to live a full, happy, healthy and productive life with the love and support of family,” he said.
Doleac said he and his wife, Ellen, look forward to spending more time with their family and friends and particularly enjoying more time with our grandchildren.
