Night of the Americas

By STAFF REPORTS,

The May 3 musical performance at the Back Door Coffeehouse will feature various artists from the Western Hemisphere who live only a few blocks away from University Baptist Church, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

"Night of the Americas!" spotlights students who are members of University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Music and Symphony Orchestra. They are from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, the United States and Venezuela, playing guitars, violins, violas, cellos and basses.

Added attractions include fine electric guitar from Hattiesburg’s Kevin Greene alongside Backdoor favorite and Nashville pro Tom Kimmel.

Readings and translations of Spanish and Portuguese poetry and an original performance by the Back Door's Klatu Players are also included.

Doors open at 7 p.m. at the church, which is located at 3200 Arlington Loop. Nursery workers are provided on site.

Admission to Back Door events are by donation only.
