On Saturday, May 4, First Bank is hosting the 2019 Race for the Roses, a fundraiser benefitting the Arc of Southeast Mississippi. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Barn at Bridlewood. The event is a celebration of all things Kentucky Derby.
The Arc is an organization that provides support, networking, and activities for individuals with cognitive and disabilities and their families.
The program has participants from Lamar, Perry, Marion, Green, Jones, Wayne, and Stone counties with an estimated impact of more than 10,000 individuals in those communities.
The proceeds of Race for the Roses will go directly to the Arc for facility maintenance, transportation services, and to support the many programs the organization provides.
Race for the Roses 2019 will begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m.
The event will feature a cigar bar, horseshoe games, live auctions, raffles, entertainment by Travis Clark, and a viewing of the running of the Kentucky Derby. There will be photo opportunities and chances to sip a mint julep or bourbon.
Attendees are encouraged to wear traditional derby attire, including stylish or outrageous hats.
Tickets and information for the event can be found at racefortherosesms.com.
