Hattiesburg police were notified of a shooting early last Saturday morning when the victim arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment.
According to police, the shooting occurred around 1:45 a.m. at Highway 49 and Campbell Loop following a verbal altercation between 42-year-old Maurice Harris and his ex-wife, whose name has not been released.
Harris allegedly fired shots into a vehicle the woman was riding in, but struck another female in the leg.
There were reportedly two other individuals in the vehicle that were not injured in the incident.
Harris, of Hattiesburg, was arrested a short time later after his vehicle was stopped in Jones County.
He was transported to the Hattiesburg Police Department for questioning and then charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated assault (domestic violence) and booked into the Forrest County Jail.
