Suspect arrested for firing shots near Hattiesburg club


A Hattiesburg man has been arrested for firing shots near a Hub City nightclub.

Cameron Wesley Owens, 26, was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of discharging a firearm within city limits after shooting into the air outside Club Empire on Timothy Lane.

According to an email from Ryan Moore, public information officer with Hattiesburg Police Department, officers were patrolling near the club at around 2 a.m. Sunday when the shots were fired. Police consulted with people on the scene and club security and were able to locate Owens and take him into custody.

Two handguns were seized from the suspect's vehicle.
