Three injured in weekend shooting

Neighbors say they heard as many as four dozen gunshots

The investigation into a weekend shooting that sent three individuals to the hospital is still ongoing, according to officials with the Hattiesburg Police Department.

Police responded to the shooting just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning to the 100-block of J.C. Killingsworth Drive, located east of Cloverleaf Mall near Pine Street.

Neighbors reported being woke up by the sound of “three (dozen) or four dozen gunshots” that sounded like they came from at least two different weapons.

A police spokesman could only confirm that multiple shell casings were recovered from the scene.

While at the scene of the shooting, officers were advised that three individuals showed up at a local hospital in personal vehicles to be treated for their injuries.

No other information has been released other than the shooting is believed to be an isolated altercation and is still under investigation.
