NATIONAL SUMMARY
Showers and thunderstorms will impact northern areas of the
Intermountain West, leading to localized areas of flooding.
Storms will approach western areas of the Dakotas during the
afternoon, and can turn severe. These storms will bring the
risk for damaging winds and hail to the region. East Texas
to Mississippi and north to southwestern Illinois will see
spotty thunderstorms as well. Extreme heat for early
September is on the way from the Midwest to southern New
England where. Temperatures are expected to reach into the
90s which could lead to daily record-breaking heat in spots.
Fortunately, much of the Northeast is expected to be
rain-free, with dry and warm conditions expected to continue
across the region.
