A 30-year-old Jackson man has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday night shooting that occurred at the address of a west Hattiesburg Walgreens store.
Curtis McGee was allegedly shot and killed by 23-year-old Jacquille Graves of Braxton, according to a Thursday morning media release from the Hattiesburg Police Department.
McGee was identified by Lamar County Coroner Blake Matherne.
Officers responded to calls of a shooting at 5093 Hardy Street around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, and, upon arrival at the scene, found McGee dead.
Shortly after discovering the victim, Graves was apprehended in Petal. He has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.
According to police officials, McGee was dating Graves’ mother, and an argument between the two men started in Mount Olive and continued as the family traveled to Hattiesburg.
There were no other injuries during the incident, and Graves was booked into the Forrest County Correctional Facility.
“The Hattiesburg Police Department would also like to thank the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department and Petal Police Department for their assistance,” said Ryan Moore, public information officer for HPD.
