Mississippi’s own Aubri Sparkman knows it takes creativity, determination and a whole lot of Duck Tape® to become a finalist of the Duck® brand 23rd Annual Stuck at Prom® Scholarship Contest.
Hailing from Hattiesburg, Aubri stood out from the other contestants with her music-themed dress, which took 14 rolls of Duck Tape, 66 hours, and other materials, like hot glue and zippers, to create.
Instruments, including the piano, violin, tambourine and electric guitar, are incorporated into her black, white and shimmery color design, which was achieved by using mirror Duck Tape.
"Music has the power to evoke emotions, transport us to different times and places and unite us with others,” Aubri says.” “Because music is not just black and white, the shiny tape is meant to represent the way music constantly moves and changes. And the notes on the skirt are a measure from an actual song.”
Competing for one of two 10,000 cash college scholarships, Aubri made it as a top 10 finalist, but now it’s up to the public to decide who will be crowned the winner of the Stuck at Prom® Scholarship Contest. From now until July 12, you can visit the 2023 Stuck at Prom® finalist gallery to vote on their favorite prom dress and tux fashions. Winners—one dress and one tux—will be announced around July 19th.
