Accompanied by a nine-member brass ensemble, the choir will transport listeners through an exhilarating musical journey, under the direction of Dr. Joel Dunlap.
John Rutter is one of the world’s most celebrated contemporary composers, known for his enchanting hymn settings, Christmas carols, and large-scale choral works. Featuring Rutter’s first published work, Shepherd’s Pipe Carol, alongside his more established pieces such as What Sweeter Music and Pie Jesu from the Requiem, this concert will culminate in a thrilling rendition of Gloria—Rutter’s first commissioned work in the United States, written in 1974. The work's Latin texts from the Roman Catholic mass, along with the music set for both the choir and instrumentalists are sure to create a lasting impression for anyone in attendance.
Dr. Joel Dunlap, who directs the Meistersingers, hails from a distinguished background in choral music and leads a diverse group of singers from across Mississippi and Louisiana.
