Perhaps the biggest– and certainly the most highly-contested – races in the upcoming election in Lamar County lie with the sheriff and board of supervisors positions.
The sheriff’s race will see two Republican candidates, along with an independent challenger. Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the Lamar County Board of Supervisors are each contested, with four candidates running for District 3.
Another highly-contested race is District 1 Constable, for which seven candidates have qualified.
The primary election will be held on August 8; if no partisan candidate garners the necessary 50 percent of the vote plus one vote in that election, a runoff will be held on August 29. The general election is set for November 7.
Independent candidates will not be on the ballot, as they will advance directly to the general election.
The following is a list of candidates for each of the positions in Lamar County, broken down by Republican and Democratic ballots.
