With school registration and the need for notarized documents, some people are surprised to find that the Lamar County Library System provides notary services.
Appointed by the state, notaries serve the public as neutral witnesses to document signing. By law, documents cannot be notarized unless they are signed in front of the notary.
Three of Lamar County’s library branches — Lumberton, Oak Grove, and Sumrall — have notaries onsite. These services are currently available by appointment only. The charge is $2 for up to five signatures/stamps.
Because of the COVID-19 situation, patrons and library staff are required to wear masks, hand sanitizer is provided, and social distancing is encouraged. To use the notary services, patrons should bring their unsigned documents and all of the people who need to sign them.
More information about the library system can be found at https://lclsms.org or https:www.facebook.com/lclsms.
Library phone numbers are as follows: Lumberton (601) 796-2505, Oak Grove (601) 296-1704, Purvis (601) 794-6291, and Sumrall (601) 758-4711. Each branch also has its own Facebook page.
