A man who was recently treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound has been arrested after police discovered he was the aggressor/suspect in a shooting incident.
Ryan Moore, public information officer with the Hattiesburg Police Department, said police were contacted by the hospital on July 7 regarding an individual who had arrived shortly before. According to the individual, it was learned that the shooting occurred on Katie Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. that day.
As the investigation progressed, officers learned that the individual being treated at the hospital was the aggressor/suspect in the incident. He has been identified as 20-year-old Kenzell Blakely, who has charges pending at this time.
Blakely was injured in the shooting while another individual was attempting to protect himself.
Another individual, Bedricka Moffett, is wanted for questioning by HPD in reference to the incident. The investigation is still onging.
