A severe storm that passed through northern Forrest County in the early hours of May 13 felled multiple trees and caused damage to at least one home.
Glen Moore, director of the Forrest County Emergency, said several trees were in the roadway in the Leeville and Macedonia communities as of approximately 6:30 a.m. One person was injured in Macedonia after a tree fell on a home in area.
Moore said it was too early yet to tell whether the storm produced any tornadoes or the damage was caused by frontline winds.
“The (National) Weather Service will probably look at it later,” he said. “Right now, we’re just responding and trying to clear up roads.”
The storm passed through Petal and the outside areas at approximately 4:30 a.m., and alerts were issued by the National Weather Service. A tornado watch was issued until 5:15 a.m.
