Hattiesburg Clinic, one of south Mississippi’s largest healthcare providers, has again expanded its footprint with a new practice in Richton.
Hattiesburg Clinic Richton Family Medicine opened in and is led by Dr. Leah B. Rock, MD, who relocated from the recently-closed Hattiesburg Clinic Runnelstown Clinic. The clinic, which offers acute, chronic and preventative medical care services for patients of all ages, opened July 25 at 201 Bay Avenue in Richton.
“We are so excited to be in Richton and have a Hattiesburg Clinic presence this far east in the state; we’re very excited to be here,” Rock said. “I’m from the area – I was raised not too far from here – so I feel like I’ve come home.”
Hattiesburg Clinic Richton Family Medicine specializes in care for allergies, arthritis, asthma, heart disease and a litany of other ailments.
“I treat what I like to say is a little bit of everything, so I treat a lot of chronic conditions: high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease,” Rock said. “And then I treat illnesses as well, and strains and sprains, and we’ve been seeing a lot of COVID.”
Rock said the clinic has remained steadily busy during its first couple weeks.
“I’m still accepting new patients,” Rock said. “We’re trying to get everything up and running; we’re still working out a few of our growing pains in our building and getting our fax machines working.
“But everything is going really great.”
Rock received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, and completed her internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Huntsville Family Medicine in Huntsville, Alabama.
Hattiesburg Clinic Richton Family Medicine is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (601) 583-1559.
