Purvis softball coach David Entrekin has been placed on paid administrative leave after allegedly engaging in a confrontation with a player's parent after a game on Feb. 18.
"Our school district is in the process of completing a full investigation in this matter and will take actions that follow our policies," said Lamar County School District Superintendent Steven Hampton.
Since the issue is a personal matter, Hampton is unable to divulge further information.
Athletic Director Patrick Lee said assistant coach Lindsay Robertson will serve as the team interim's head coach. Entrekin has served as head coach for the program since 2007.
Officials from the Lamar County School District will review the matter throughout this week and determine whether Entrekin will be terminated from the position.
The Tornados currently hold a 3-0 record. Last season, Purvis finished the year 19-8 after reaching the Class 4A quarterfinals.
