A handful of races in the August 8 primary election for Forrest County were too close to call, as officials were still counting affidavit ballots as of press time Wednesday.
The following is a list of results of local elections – including supervisor, tax collector and other offices – with some races necessitating runoffs, if none of the candidates received the necessary 50 percent of the vote plus one vote.
The winner of the Republican and Democratic primaries will face off against each other in the November 7 general election, in addition to any independent candidates in the race.
If necessary, the runoff election will be held August 29.
