Two Hattiesburg men have been arrested on animal cruelty charges following incidents involving injuries to two dogs.
On March 7, members of the Hattiesburg Police Department’s detectives and animal control divisions responded to a call in the 20 block of Central School Road in Hattiesburg. Upon arriving, officers discovered two dogs, both suffering from a broken leg and spine.
According to reports, one dog had been thrown off a second-floor balcony, while the other dog had been hit by a vehicle on March 4 and was not treated for its injuries.
Officers then learned that 38-year-old Orlanda Wiley had allegedly thrown the dog off the balcony, and that 31-year-old Corey Ramsey allegedly neglected to seek medical care for the dog that had been struck by the vehicle.
Wiley and Ramsey were each charged with one count of Animals, Dog or Cat: Aggravated Cruelty and were booked into the Forrest County Correctional Facility.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials expect to release more information as it becomes available.
