Deputies from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a 13-year-old male and charged him as an adult with murder after an apparent homicide outside of Purvis.
Sheriff Danny Rigel said deputies were notified of the incident at 11:13 p.m. July 11, when a resident called to report a shooting in the 100 block of North Windridge Lane, just off Old Highway 11. When officers arrived, they found a female, who lived at the residence, dead from an apparent single gunshot wound.
The victim’s boyfriend, Tywone Nobles – a 27-year-old who also lived at the apartment – was allegedly not at home at the time of the incident. However, Nobles was wanted in Adams County for two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
Because of that, Nobles was arrested by officials from that county’s sheriff’s department and booked into the correctional facility there.
“We didn’t have any charges on him, but Adams County wanted him pretty bad,” Rigel said.
Although the 13-year-old – who is from Natchez – is being charged as an adult, officials are hesitant to release his name because he is still considered a juvenile.
Lamar County Coroner Blake Matherne identified the victim as 27-year-old Jasmine Johnson.
“We don’t know (the circumstances yet),” Rigel said. “Tywone Nobles said he left to go to the store, and when he came driving back up, that’s when he heard the gunshot and saw his girlfriend (shot),and he started doing CPR.
“Another lady that was in the house called 911 and said she heard a gunshot in the house, and deputies were right around the corner. They found the female on the floor; she was deceased at the scene, and a weapon was recovered.”
