A third suspect has been arrested in relation to last year’s shooting incident at Heritage Apartments on South 29th Avenue in Hattiesburg that left one man dead.
Twenty-year-old Raytrell Alonzo Jones of Hattiesburg was arrested on January 16 by officers from the Hattiesburg Police Department and charged with one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and one count of simple domestic violence. He was booked into the Forrest County Correctional Facility.
The shooting occurred on November 26, 2023 at the apartments. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a deceased man with a gunshot wound, who was later identified as 24-year-old Brystin Varnado.
Two other suspects in the incident also were recently arrested: Mya Everett and Nikel Hammond, each 21 years old. Everett and Hammond were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery.
The women were each given a bond of $280,000 - $30,000 for the conspiracy to commit armed robbery charge and $250,000 for the attempted armed robbery charge.
