A Hub City woman was recently arrested and charged in a shooting incident that ended with a carjacking in east Hattiesburg.
According to a news release from the Hattiesburg Police Department, police responded at approximately 9:30 a.m. June 4 to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Country Club Road. Upon arriving, officers discovered that a female – who was later identified as 18-year-old Hattiesburg resident Asia Dabney – had approached a male who was sitting in his vehicle, pointed a handgun at the man and demanded he vacate the vehicle.
At that point, the male grabbed the weapon from Dabney. The gun then went off, striking Dabney’s leg and grazing the victim in the hand. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Upon Dabney’s release from the hospital, she was charged with one count of armed carjacking and one count of possession of a stolen firearm. She was booked into the Forrest County Correctional Facility.
