A Hub City man faces up to 60 years in prison on charges of second-degree murder and criminal street gang activity for his part in a 2019 fatal shooting on Martin Luther King Avenue in Hattiesburg.
On May 10, during a trial in Forrest County Circuit Court presided over by judge Bob Helfrich, a jury found 22-year-old Noah Booth guilty of the two charges. Sentencing will be set for a future date; Booth could serve up to 40 years for the murder charge and 20 years on the gang charge.
According to an indictment issued by a grand jury in May 2022, Booth shot and killed William Myers and assaulted Jermaine Coleman with a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver on February 26, 2019. Booth and Myers were allegedly members of rival gangs.
Another man, Alfred McCaskill, also was named in the indictment for allegedly purchasing the handgun for Booth. McCaskill had previously been convicted of possession of a stolen firearm, which is a felony.
