A Hattiesburg man has been arrested and charged in connection with two separate shooting incidents – one of which resulted in a fatality – that recently took place in the Hub City.
Twenty-five year-old Donald Robinson was taken into custody on September 5 and charged with a total of three counts for the shootings: one count of aggravated assault, one count of drive-by shooting and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
The first shooting, which resulted in the drive-by-shooting and aggravated assault charges, took place August 10 in the 2500 block of West 7th Street.
The second shooting occurred at approximately 11 p.m. August 23, when officers from the Hattiesburg Police Department responded to the 3100 block of Hardy Street after a call regarding shots fired in the area. Upon arriving, police discovered a wrecked passenger vehicle with two male occupants, who were being treated by paramedics for gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition; however, one man later passed away as a result of his injuries. The deceased was later identified by Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem as 27-year-old Darius Moye of Hattiesburg.
The investigations into the shootings are ongoing, and officials expect to release more information when it becomes available.
Anyone with additional information on the incidents is encouraged to contact Hattiesburg police at (601) 544-7900 or Metro Crime Stoppers at (601) 582-7867.
