Motorists who travel Broadway Drive as a part of their daily commute may experience delays due to the beginning of a significant paving project for the Hwy 11/Broadway Drive corridor, from Richburg Road to the west of 6th Avenue into Downtown Hattiesburg.
In total, this stretch is a little more than 2 miles long. Milling will take place, followed by paving. Milling the roadway is expected to take at least five days.
Contractors will begin work in the left eastbound lane of Hwy 11/Broadway Drive near Richburg Road. From there, they will work their way toward Downtown Hattiesburg.
The traffic plan includes alternating lane closures to keep traffic flowing. The entirety of the project is anticipated to take at least a month (but will depend on weather conditions).
This project is initiated and funded by the Mississippi Department of Transportation and will include both the milling and the overlay of the main travel lanes and the center turn lanes. Warren Paving is the contractor.
