Southern Miss coach Will Hall announced during the Sun Belt’s media Zoom call on Monday that cornerback Brendan Toles is out for the year.
Toles went down during Southern Miss’ 21-3 loss to Tulane in the fourth quarter. Hall did not disclose the injury but mentioned that Toles has yet to use his redshirt, and will be his likely path moving forward.
“He’ll come back better than ever and hopefully be ready for spring ball,” Hall said.
This year, the junior recorded three tackles and two pass breakups. Last year, Toles appeared in 12 games and recorded 18 tackles.
Hall did say during the Zoom call that running back Frank Gore Jr., “had a great workout this morning. He’s looking good,’ after leaving Saturday’s game in a boot.
Southern Miss will travel to face Arkansas State this weekend. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and aired on ESPN+.
