This October, Loblolly Bakery is turning its ovens—and its heart—toward a big mission: raising $100,000 for breast cancer patients and their families right here in the Pine Belt.
In partnership with Kristen Sentell at the Forrest General Cancer Center and Christy Amay with the Pink Ribbon Fund, Loblolly is introducing a brand-new creation: Queen Cakes. The bakery has set an ambitious goal of selling 5,000 Queen Cakes during the month of October, with $5 from every cake sold going directly to the Pink Ribbon Fund. To amplify the impact, Loblolly is seeking matching sponsors to double the dollars raised.
“If you remember Mardi Gras, you know how fast our King Cakes flew out the door—over 15,000 in just a few weeks,” said Robert St. John, owner of Loblolly Bakery. “We’ve created a new recipe, designed a custom pink box, and we’re ready to make a real difference for breast cancer patients in our community.”
Queen Cakes will be available October 1–31, exclusively during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Loblolly is encouraging church groups, civic organizations, schools, sororities, clubs, and the entire Pine Belt community to rally together to help reach the 5,000-cake goal.
Cakes will be available daily at Loblolly Bakery throughout October. Organizations interested in becoming a matching sponsor can contact General Manager, Garrett Marlin, at garrett@loblollybakery.com.
