As a long-time reader of the Pine Belt News, I am impressed with the quality and timeliness of your reports. You have some excellent writers who contribute much to our community dialog. I must express my disappointment regarding Dr. Richard Conville’s article on “The Single-Issue Voter.” I was saddened to see how he went out of his way to defend abortion, without acknowledging that there is room for compromise on “both sides of the aisle.” His entire article pushes the “fear factor” to his readers on every issue. It is obvious that he is totally fearful of former President Trump. In fact, Professor Conville beats the January 6 drum every chance he gets. I am not defending President Trump, but Nancy Pelosi and the Mayor of Washington, D.C. did nothing to control the crowd on that fateful day. I often enjoy Dr. Conville’s articles, but this time his “single issue” seems to be hate for one man. Once again, I encourage Dr. Conville to use his obvious solid literary skills to enlighten readers with more positive observations about our nation, state and community. Let our single issue be sincere prayer for our nation and all of its citizens, including both presidential candidates.
Most sincerely, Colonel Joe Kinnan, USAF, Ret., PhD
