As I read Dr. Dick Conville’s recent article, “Ezell and the Fourth District,” in his attempt to diminish the effectiveness of Congressman Mike Ezell, it became obvious that Dr. Conville’s Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) has flared up once again. Although the “One Big Beautiful Bill” is not perfect, it certainly offers many ways to build our economy and to eliminate waste in programs such as Medicaid. Waste can be removed without compromising vital services. Less spending by the federal government does not necessarily mean that vital services will suffer.
Dr. Conville’s tedious explanations of OMB (Presidential agency) and CBO (Congressional agency) methods appear to be in error since both agencies use different methodologies to draw their conclusions. It should be noted that from 2021 to 2024, the CBO had errors between 1.1 percent and 3.8 percent, equaling hundreds of billions of dollars more in deficits than President Biden’s OMB projected. In 2024, the CBO underestimated the deficit by 1.17 percent, over $300 billion.
Mike Ezell represents Mississippi well. I encourage all citizens to subscribe to his newsletter. He keeps us informed, and he meets frequently with his constituents. He invites dialog on issues, and he is a good listener. Let us continue to express our concerns to him and support his efforts to carry our message to our nation’s leaders. Also, let us continue to pray for wisdom on both sides of the aisle.
