Hattiesburg Police Department is partnering with Forrest County Sheriff’s Office and Hattiesburg Fire Department to host the inaugural “Bags & Badges” Cornhole Tournament. In addition to the cornhole tournament, there will be food, drinks, music and the opportunity to dunk an officer in a dunking booth. The public is invited to test their aim and nerve against local first responders on Aug. 16 at 11 a.m.
The tournament costs $100 to enter a two-person team with all proceeds benefitting the Hattiesburg Police Benefit Fund, which provides financial assistance to HPD officers and their families during times of emergencies, hardships or crisis. First place winners of the tournament will receive a custom trophy and $100, and second place will receive a custom trophy and $50. There will be additional special awards for stand-out teams and crowd favorites. All participants will receive an event t-shirt.
Spectators are welcomed, and the cost to enter is $2. Team registration can be found online at https://bit.ly/bagsandbadges. For more information, contact Tate Rutland, the public information officer for the department at (601)544-7900.
