William Carey University hosted Homecoming Oct. 13-18 at its Hattiesburg campus. One of the high points of the week was the presentation of the Homecoming Court – which includes the announcement of Mr. and Miss WCU. Chosen by the student body, this year’s winners are James Ford and Mallory Gilbertson.
Mr. WCU: James Ford of Sumrall was elected Mr. WCU. He is the son of Jim and Julie Ford. James is majoring in Christian studies, and his minor is biblical languages. He is a member of the Baptist Student Union, where he is serves on the lead team. He is a work study student for the Cooper School of Missions and Ministry Studies. James and his fiancé, Morgan Westling, will marry in November. James plans to begin studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in January.
Miss WCU: Mallory Gilbertson of Petal was elected Miss WCU. She is the daughter of John and Linda Gilbertson. Mallory is a mass communication major with a concentration in public relations. She is a member of the Women's Golf Team, Carey Scholars honors program, and Alpha Chi National Honor Society. She is an NAIA Scholar Athlete and a two-time Champion of Character recipient. She is also a two-time member of the SSAC All-Academic Team and recipient of a Smith-Holliman Freshman Writer Award.
