Oak Grove (4-2)
The Warriors got more than they bargained for against Houston (Tenn.) on Friday night. Oak Grove trailed 17-14 late in the second quarter before a pair of touchdowns gave the Warriors some breathing room. They held on to win 28-21 for their fourth straight victory. Oak Grove hosts a hot Petal team this Friday night in the Pine Belt Sports Game of the Week.
Hattiesburg (3-2)
Hattiesburg was on a bye week this week. The Tigers return to action Thursday as they travel to Jim Hill (1-5) to open Region 3 play.
Petal (4-2)
Petal dominated West Jones in a 45-6 statement win Friday night. Quarterback Caiden Belton threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns, including two long scores to Trey Barnes, while the Panther defense held the Mustangs to under 50 rushing yards in the first half. Petal has now won three straight and travels to Oak Grove (4-2) next week for the Pine Belt Sports Game of the Week.
Lumberton (2-2)
Lumberton is back on track after beating Perry Central 26-20. It was the Panthers’ first game since Sept. 12 due to weather and an open date. Lumberton travels to Richton (4-2) this Friday to open Region 8 play.
Sumrall (5-1)
After dropping their first game, Drew Granger’s squad bounced back with a 20-7 win over Seminary. The Bobcats shut Seminary out in the second half to earn the victory. Sumrall travels to South Jones (6-0) this Friday.
Forrest County AHS (4-2)
In a true sickos committee game, Forrest County AHS and Moss Point were tied 0-0 at the end of regulation. The game went to five overtimes before Shawn Walker broke the tie with a one-yard touchdown run to win 6-0. The Aggies were without QB Parks Brock, which contributed to the turnovers throughout the night. FCAHS travels to Pass Christian (5-1) before a bye next week.
North Forrest (2-4)
North Forrest is back in the win column with a 30-20 win over Collins. The Falcons travel to East Marion (3-3) this week.
PCS (4-2)
PCS bulldozed St. Patrick 36-0 to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Bobcats travel to Greene County (4-2) this week — the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Purvis (3-2)
Purvis was on a bye this week and returns to action Friday at East Central (1-4).
Sacred Heart (4-2)
Sacred Heart suffered a setback with a 36-14 loss to East Marion. The Crusaders fall to 0-1 in Region 8 and will host Columbia Academy (4-2) on Friday.
College
Jones (3-2, 0-2 MACCC South)
Jones was on a bye last weekend. The Bobcats return to action Thursday, hosting No. 9 Hinds.
Pearl River (1-4, 0-3 MACCC South)
Pearl River was on a bye last weekend. The Wildcats travel to Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday.
Southern Miss (3-2, 1-0 Sun Belt)
Southern Miss was on a bye last weekend. The Golden Eagles travel to Georgia Southern on Thursday night as 2.5-point road favorites. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
