The search has ended for a Hattiesburg teen who jumped off the Lady Monroe yacht near West Ship Island on Saturday afternoon. His body was recovered and identified just before noon on Sunday morning, according to Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer.
Carson Hall, a 2019 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, jumped off the yacht Saturday afternoon. According to Switzer, when Hall jumped he hit the water stomach first and didn’t resurface. The group he was with entered the water to search for him, but when efforts failed the Coast Guard was called in. They worked with Marine Patrol and several other agencies to locate the body, including a Coast Guard helicopter from New Orleans, a 45-foot Coast Guard response board and crew from Gulfport and officials from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.
According to Switzer the cause of death has been ruled as accidental drowning.
Water conditions Saturday night made it unable for agencies to recover the body.
Facebook posts on several pages were flooded with prayers for Hall’s family and friends as well as the Sacred Heart family.
