Every week during the football season, Camal Petro and Andrew Abadie will hop on Facebook Live to preview the week’s slate of games. With Week 6 of high school football this week, we break down the all eight matchups Friday night.
On this week’s episode, Camal and Andrew touch on the high school teams that are starting region play and the numerous Southern Miss storylines surrounding the football program.
The Hattiesburg Tigers are exactly where they want to be five weeks into their season. Yes, they’re 4-0 after last week’s bye week, but the 4-0 record isn’t exactly what Hattiesburg coach Tony Vance means when he says his team is on schedule to being one of the best teams in 5A.
Not much has changed from last week, as the Hattiesburg Tigers remain No. 2 in the state and No. 1 in 5A. Lumberton also holds firm at No. 2 in 1A.
Receiving votes, though, is Oak Grove in the Class Overall poll, and Sumrall is also getting the second-most votes for a team outside the Top 5 in 4A.
The automated touchdown machine, or “A-T-M”, has been pumping out touchdowns left and right for the Hattiesburg Tigers. When most high school fans across the state look at the entire Hattiesburg team, they see offensive production and fireworks.
On this week’s episode of The PineBeltSPORTS Podcast, Camal and Andrew take a look around the high school football landscape after four weeks of games, as well as Southern Miss through two games.
Hattiesburg remains the No. 2 team in the state in the Mississippi AP Prep Poll, while Oak Grove dropped out after losing to the Tigers Friday night. The Tigers are also No. 1 in 5A, collecting 10 of the 12 first-place votes.
HATTIESBURG – Senior Drexlan Allen is out to prove a lot of things when he’s toting the ball for the Hattiesburg Tigers. Not only is he trying to help his team get back to the 5A State Championship, he’s trying to prove to college coaches that he deserves a Division I shot.
