Hattiesburg saw four athletes sign National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.
Randarius McLaughlin, Malcolm Boykin, and Le’Branden Graham all signed football scholarships, while Malik Walker signed a basketball scholarship.
Boykin, who chose Holmes CC, played various roles for the Tigers as he played running back, wide receiver, quarterback, defensive back, and kick returner. Boykin ran for 503 yards and three touchdowns as well as hauled in 469 yards and six touchdowns. The senior also had eight interceptions, 501 return yards and a kick return for a touchdown.
McLaughlin, who signed to play defensive end at East Central CC, recorded 48 tackles, three sacks and a safety this past season.
Graham, who chose Faulkner University, also played several roles for the Tigers, had 336 all-purpose yards and scored five touchdowns and recorded 35 tackles.
“They are all good kids,” Hattiesburg football coach Tony Vance said. “All three of them have been a pleasure to coach.
“I’m super proud of those guys, and for the opportunity, they have to further their education and playing career. I’m happy for them and their families.”
Finally, Walker will be heading to Co-Lin CC. Walker has been a key contributor for all four years with the Tigers and has been critical in helping Hattiesburg make numerous deep playoff runs. The Tigers, which are 17-7 and undefeated in region play, Walker has averaged 9.5 points and three rebounds per game this season.
“He’s been good all four years he has been here,” Hattiesburg basketball coach Ernie Watson said. “The fire and desire he has, the leadership skills, the leadership ability is where this program is because of him. He’s just done a great job of getting the guys around him to get into the spirit of winning.
“He hates losing. He hates the minimum effort. He wants you to give him everything that you have and leave it on the court. He expresses that not only in his game, but he tries to express that into other folks too.”
