Peep Show is a one-of-a-kind exhibit at the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum that brings the iconic PEEPS® marshmallow treats to life in unexpected ways. North Carolina artist Caren Loy has taken these sugary symbols of Easter and reimagined them in a variety of professional settings, giving familiar careers a whimsical, Peep-inspired twist. Through vibrant artwork, Loy explores themes of nostalgia, consumer culture, and the intersection of pop culture and sweetness, inviting viewers to see these beloved treats—and the professions they inhabit—through a playful new lens.
Since their debut in the 1950s by the Just Born company, PEEPS® have become a sugary symbol of Easter and all things sweet. Loy breathes new life into this candy legacy by blending cultural commentary, humor, and colorful creativity into each piece. Don’t miss the chance to experience these sweet characters in a whole new way as they embark on a playful Career Day field trip, each exploring a unique profession. Which career do you think best fits the sweet life of a Peep?
The idea for Peep Show first came to Loy in 2020 when she saw a post on Facebook featuring plush Peeps in a window to celebrate Easter during the COVID pandemic. Inspired by this fun, creative gesture, she decided to expand on the concept, exploring the idea of Peeps in modern careers. The result is a vibrant collection that brings together the whimsical world of Peeps with a touch of humor and cultural reflection.
