This August, the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum invites visitors to take a whimsical walk down memory lane with its August exhibit, The Return of the Rubber Duckie. In celebration of the museum’s 5th birthday, this joyful installation revisits and reimagines one of its earliest and most beloved exhibits—2020’s “What the Duck?”—which brought humor and lightness during a time of global uncertainty.
Since opening in 2020, the Pocket Museum has charmed more than 200,000 annual visitors with its offbeat and ever-changing exhibits. As part of its milestone celebration, the museum is giving a cheerful nod to its quirky roots with an exhibit full of nostalgia, pop culture, and yes—rubber ducks.
Rubber ducks have delighted people for over a century, evolving from chewable toys in the late 1800s to iconic bath-time companions. Their fame soared in 1970 when Ernie from Sesame Street serenaded his “Rubber Duckie” into the hearts of millions.
“The Return of the Rubber Duckie” is a tribute to childhood joy, creative spirit, and the power of play—everything the Pocket Museum stands for.
Come celebrate five years of unexpected wonder—one duck at a time.
