Hattiesburg City Council held its first meetings of the month on Monday and Tuesday including the presentation of the Downtown Roadmap as presented by the Downtown Hattiesburg Association and the review of the MEMA Regional Hazard Mitigation program.
Other business from the meetings is as follows:
-Approval of the minutes from the Feb. 18 meeting
-An ordinance to amend the zoning district map for a property located at 532 Cox Street was taken from the table and adopted
-Adoption of an ordinance to approve a zoning change from B-5 to B-1 for a property located at 1927 Hill Street
-Adoption of an amendment to Ordinance 3369, the Sidewalk Bank Fee-in-Lieu program
-Approval of a preliminary plat for a major subdivision on Jackson Road
-Approval of a conditional use request for gravel surfacing and a variance request to allow for an 8-foot fence instead of the maximum height of 4 feet for a property owned by Cooperative Energy to be used as a substation at 1519 US Highway 98 East
-Approval of several variance requests for the construction of The Little Wine Shoppe at the property located at 2106 Hardy Street
-Adoptions of resolutions to direct the placement of clean-up costs and applicable penalties to the following properties: 701 McKinley Street, 700 McKinley Street, 715 McKinley Street, 714 McKinley Street, 1317 Hall Avenue, 1403 Hall Avenue and 1307 Hall Avenue
-Adoption of a resolution to set a public hearing on Monday, April 7 at 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to determine whether certain properties are in such a state as to be a danger to the public
-Adoption of a resolution declaring certain signage as surplus and to authorizing the disposition by execution of a bill-of-sale to The Lucky Rabbit, LLC
-Approval of the renewal of an agreement between the city and the National Museum of the United States Air Force for the community static display loan program
-Approval of a contract with Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. for ArcGIS software access and maintenance
-Approval of a sponsorship agreement between the city and JTR Productions, Inc.
-Ratification and confirmation of Mayor Barker’s appointment of Jerome Brown to the Hattiesburg Convention Commission for two years
-Acknowledgement and acceptance of a bid from M&P Construction for the Katie Dabbs Community Center Project
