Kaylee Fortenberry, 18, of Sumrall, was recently selected to serve as 2020 Miss Hospitality for Lamar County. She is the daughter of Andrew and Samantha Phillips of Sumrall and Lane and Rachel Fortenberry of Columbia.
She was crowned during a presentation held at Citizens Bank in Oak Grove, which sponsored the event.
Fortenberry will serve as Lamar County’s community spokesperson, promoting tourism and development throughout the year. She will also compete at the state level for the title of Mississippi’s Miss Hospitality. This year’s state competition will be held July 17-18 at the Historic Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.
The Miss Hospitality program has supported talented and intelligent women for 70 years through a scholarship and prize program. Contestants are eligible for more than $100,000 in scholarships and prizes, including cash and college-granted funds. The program partners with colleges and universities across the state to provide opportunities for contestants to further their education.
