Forrest General Hospital will stage a large-scale Mass Casualty Emergency Preparedness Drill on the morning of February 13 on the grounds surrounding FGH. This multi-agency drill will be used to test emergency response procedures and coordination with community partners, including the Mississippi State Department of Health, Hattiesburg Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, AAA Ambulance, and our local Emergency Operations Center.
During the drill, the public may notice a large presence of local and state law enforcement officers/vehicles, ambulances and helicopters, first responders, and medical personnel in and around the hospital. This is only a drill. There is no real emergency and the public is not in danger.
The exercise, which will take place in an employee parking lot near the FGH walking track and the hospital, is designed to enhance readiness, improve communication, and ensure the hospital and its partners are prepared to respond effectively in the event of a real emergency.
The hospital will remain open and operational during the drill, and patient care will not be impacted.
