The Forrest County Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday morning began with Kammie Carpenter, the executive director of the Petal Chamber of Commerce, addressing the board to thank them for their support following their year in review report. Carpenter also asked the board for advice and guidance as she moves forward with planning for the celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary.
Additionally, the following business was conducted:
- Acknowlegement of the closing of county offices on Sept. 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day
- Acknowlegement of the fiscal year 2026 Office of Highway Safety grant award in the amount of $37,630
- Authorization of Juvenile Drug Intervention Court staff to attend the Juvenile Justice Symposium 2025
- Consideration of a sponsorship to Petal Children’s Task Force to advertise county resources
- Authorization of reimbursement to Rawls Springs Utility Association in the amount of $17,713.55, their remaining ARPA obligation
- Authorization of a payment in the amount of $5,050 for the replacement of a septic tank damaged by county work crews
- Approval of a request from Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport for matching MDA Grant Funding; provides a second point of access for distributors
- Acknowlegement and ratification of a payment to Peoples’ Bank for the FCAHS bond in the amount of $201,250
- Approval to issue a request for qualification to select an energy services company to design and implement infrastructure projects
