Sacred Heart stayed undefeated last week, while Oak Grove and Petal return to action after enjoying their byes.
Hattiesburg 34, George County 28 OT
The Tigers win their third straight game and move to 4-2 before starting region play. Hattiesburg scored a touchdown and two-point conversion with 21 seconds left to force overtime. Running back Tavares Wade won the game with a 10-yard touchdown run in OT. Wade and quarterback Deuce Vance both accounted for two touchdowns. Linebacker BJ Mitchell racked up 13 tackles, forced three fumbles and recovered one fumble. The Tigers open Region 3-6A against Forest Hill (3-3). The Patriots defeated Callaway 33-28 last week to win their third straight game.
Sacred Heart 18, East Marion 14
The Crusaders’ defense forced four turnovers in the win, including a pick six by George Underwood, which moves Sacred Heart to 6-0 for the first time in school history and 1-0 in Region 8-1A action. The Crusaders host Salem (0-6) this week, which comes off a 56-26 loss to Resurrection Catholic.
Lumberton 41, Enterprise 2
The Panthers (3-3, 1-0) have won three of their last four games after opening region play with a win. Ledavian Fariley led the Panthers with 119 yards and a touchdown while Ta’Kell Lee ran in two scores and 45 yards. Lumberton will travel to play East Marion (1-5, 0-1) next week.
Purvis 21, FCAHS 19
Jojo Parker threw for two touchdowns and 165 yards, while Moses Cummings ran for over 150 yards and a score in the victory. FCAHS’ quarterback Parks Brock threw for two touchdowns and 136 yards, while Cortez Sims led the Aggies’ defense with 14 tackles. Purvis (4-2, 1-0) will host rival Sumrall this week, while FCAHS (4-2, 0-1) travels to play undefeated Columbia (6-0), which defeated Gautier 27-7 last week.
Lawrence County 53, Sumrall 37
The Bobcats (3-3, 0-1) lose their second straight game as well as drop their region opener. Quarterback Landown Hawkins threw for 370 yards and two touchdowns, with his top target being Jacyree Washington, as he hauled in eight catches for 176 yards and a score. Braelyn Harrison ran for three touchdowns and 115 yards. Sumrall will travel to face rival Purvis this week.
Collins 50, North Forrest 21
The Eagles (2-4) drop their fourth straight game and open region play with a loss. North Forrest hosts Heidelberg (4-2, 1-0), which won its third consecutive game after defeating Richton 44-0 last week.
Bay High 40, PCS 18
The Bobcats drop their third straight game and fall to 2-4. PCS, which is 0-1 in its district, returns to district action as the Bobcats host Jackson Prep (6-1, 1-0). Last week, Prep fell to West Jones 21-6 last week.
Both Oak Grove and Petal had byes last week. The Warriors (5-0) open Region 3-7A play on the road against Meridian (3-2), while the Panthers (3-2) travel to face Brandon (3-2) on Thursday.
