Oak Grove 45, Meridian 35
The Warriors won a shootout to open region play and stay undefeated as they improve to 6-0 overall. Running back Kylin Champagne ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns while quarterback AJ Maddox tossed for 295 yards and three scores. Oak Grove hosts Brandon (4-2, 1-0) next week.
Sacred Heart 41, Salem 6
The Crusaders are off to their first-ever 2-0 start in region play as they stay undefeated and move to 7-0. Running back DJ Booth led the team with 153 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, George Underwood came up with eight tackles and an interception in the victory. Sacred Heart goes on the road to face Lumberton.
Lumberton 14, East Marion 8
The Panthers (4-3) rattled off their third straight win and move to 2-0 in region play. Quarterback Lathan Bowens tossed for two touchdown passes. Linebacker Amir Hill hauled in one of those touchdown passes and recorded three tackles and a sack on defense. Lumberton hosts Sacred Heart next week.
Sumrall 21, Purvis 13
The Bobcats (4-3, 1-1) pick up their first region win after holding off a second-half comeback by Purvis. Sumrall returns home to host Columbia (7-0, 1-0), while Purvis travels to face Lawrence County (3-4, 0-1), which fell to University Lab (La.) 48-26.
Brandon 54, Petal 17
The Panthers (3-3, 0-1) drop their region opener, and have now lost three of their last four games. Petal returns home to host Pearl (5-1, 0-1), which comes off a 21-13 loss to Northwest Rankin.
Heidelberg 56, North Forrest 14
The Eagles (2-5) dropped their fifth straight game and fall to 0-2 in region play. Next week, North Forrest will host Richton (1-5, 0-2), which comes off a bye week.
Columbia 49, FCAHS 8
The Aggies dropped their second straight game and fall to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in region play. FCAHS will have a bye next week.
Jackson Prep 49, PCS 0
The Bobcats (2-5) dropped their fourth straight game and fall to 0-2 in district play. Next week, PCS goes on the road to face St. Joseph Catholic (4-3, 0-2). The Bruins defeated Cathedral 34-12 last week.
Hattiesburg had a bye this week, but will open region play against Forest Hill (4-3, 1-0). The Patriots won their fourth straight game after defeating Pearl River Central 30-27.
