Sacred Heart 17, Richton 0
The Crusaders are off to the school’s first-ever 5-0 start as they posted back-to-back games with a shutout. In the win, Sacred Heart’s defense was led by Brad Marrero, who totaled 11 tackles. As a team, Sacred Heart forced three fumbles and recovered two. Sacred Heart opens region play against East Marion (1-4), which was defeated by Heidelberg 44-6.
Oak Grove 52, Laurel 14
The Warriors move to 5-0 after defeating Laurel on Thursday. Quarterback AJ Maddox threw for three touchdowns and 164 yards, while running back Kylin Champagne ran for two touchdowns and 113 yards. Oak Grove will have a bye next week before starting region play against Meridian.
FCAHS 27, Seminary 24
The Aggies (4-1) win their fourth straight as they toppled undefeated Seminary. Alexander Csarzar totaled 121 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns in the win. FCAHS will host Purvis to open region play.
Purvis 20, Oak Forest Aca. 14 OT
The Tornadoes improve to 3-2. Next week, they travel to face FCAHS in region action. Running back Moses Cummings ran for over 200 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was the game-winner.
Petal 42, Long Beach 14
The Panthers get back in the win column and improve to 3-2. Petal will have a bye next week before starting region play against Brandon.
Lumberton 43, MT. Olive 6
The Panthers open region play against Enterprise (3-2) next week, which defeated West Lincoln 43-14.
Hattiesburg 42, Sumrall 14
The Tigers win their second straight game to improve to 3-2, while Sumrall drops to 3-2. Hattiesburg goes on the road to face George County, while the Bobcats host Lawrence County to start region play next week. George County (4-1) defeated Wayne County 14-13 in overtime and returns four-star quarterback Deuce Knight. Lawrence County (2-3) defeated Tylertown 42-18.
Simpson Academy 21, PCS 14
Despite coming off a bye week, the Bobcats drop their second straight game and drop to 2-3. PCS travels to play Bay High (2-3), which comes off a 42-26 win over Pearl River Central.
South Jones 27, North Forrest 14
The Eagles drop their third straight as they move to 2-3. North Forrest travels to face Collins (3-2) to start region play. Collins fell to West Marion 20-3 last week.
