Vixon Sullivan represents the very best of what the Pine Belt of South Mississippi has to offer.
A full-time, professional artist by trade, Sullivan is perhaps best known for his ceramic work, but he has enjoyed the spotlight in recent months thanks to several high-profile projects – including an artistic partnership with Columbia’s Ben Watts to memorialize slain civil rights worker Vernon Dahmer in a larger-than-life statue soon to find a permanent home in downtown Hattiesburg.
Currently serving as president of the South Mississippi Art Association, the 29-year-old’s philosophy on the beautiful art he creates is simple, but powerful:
“For me,” he said, “art is about positively contributing to the environment around me.”
With that kind of attitude, it’s no wonder his work is sold throughout the south – and internationally.
Vixon Sullivan has big ideas and we can’t wait to see them come to fruition.
